The Two Tunnels Greenway - Sustrans Volunteer Group (22 Apr 2010)

On 22 April 2010 a group of people came along to the Percy Centre in Bath to hear about progress on the Two Tunnels Greenway and about volunteering for Sustrans. Two Tunnels Chairman Frank Tompson welcomed everyone to the event and then handed over to Sustrans engineer Patrick Tully. He talked about progress on the project and how the Two Tunnels Greenway differs significantly from how Sustrans projects are normally carried out. There was then an opportunity to ask questions and plenty of these were offered by those attending. Next it was over to Sustrans Volunteer Co-ordinator Katie Aartse-Tuyn. Katie talked about Sustrans and the various opportunities for people to help both the Two Tunnels Greenway and other Sustrans projects. Katie and Patrick then answered further questions and Patrick drew up a suggested timeline, showing the route opening in stages over the next 18 months. There was then an opportunity for new volunteers to be registered and for existing volunteers to associate themselves with this project. Overall this was a very successful evening and it was really pleasing to see the interest it had generated.
